Life is a journey, and like any journey, it’s important to make sure we are heading in the
direction that feels right for us. Just as many use a compass to check their bearings, we
hope the Wellness Compass Workbook for Adults will become a trusted guide for you. It
offers tools and resources to support you as you pause, reflect, and choose the path that
supports your overall well-being.
The National Wellness Institute defines wellness as “an active process through which
people become aware of, and make choices toward, a more successful existence.” The
wellness journey we’ll explore in this Workbook is about actively learning to be more
self-aware and choosing goals and next steps that promote meaningful change and
growth in all areas of your life. Personal wellness, in all its dimensions, occurs when we
commit to developing a lifestyle based on healthy attitudes and actions.
The three-step process we offer in this Workbook will help you discover and reflect on
your values and priorities. It will show you which areas of your life are going well and
which might need more attention. Think of it like tending a garden: some
parts may be thriving while others may require extra care and nurturing to
reach their full potential. This Workbook will support you as you identify the
steps you can take to improve your well-being.
There is much in this resource to read, reflect on, and engage with. This is
for you, so take your time—there is no rush. You may want to explore the
Workbook on your own, or you could discuss it with a partner, trusted family
member, friend, or perhaps with a group of others who are also interested in
personal growth and change. If you choose to go through it independently, it might take
several months or even a year to complete, and that is perfectly fine.
Life is always changing, so we encourage you to revisit each area of wellness from time
to time and consider setting new goals or SMART Steps if and when you feel they are
needed. Remember that this is a lifelong journey that deserves your ongoing attention.
Throughout this journey, we encourage you to practice self-compassion. Be kind to
yourself as you explore and grow, recognizing and accepting that change takes time
and effort.
It is our hope that the process of engaging with the materials throughout this Workbook
will be a meaningful experience for you, offering guidance and support as you create the
healthier, more balanced life you desire.
Wishing you well on your journey,
